We chose High Broom Care Home as it was one of the few outstanding homes in the area and it has been one of the best decisions we ever made. My mother is so happy there – is always praising the staff who are just so kind and considerate, the food (which is extremely good and there is so much of it!) and the varied activities which she very much enjoys. Regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), families can feel reassured knowing we work hard to provide every resident with the same care we would want for our own loved ones: expert, compassionate, loving and dignified. As individual needs change, our dedicated team offers flexible, responsive support, whether for a short stay or longer-term care.
Our team is led by experienced registered manager Karen Theobald, who has been part of High Broom for over 20 years and manager for the past 12. Karen takes a hands-on approach, overseeing every aspect of daily life at High Broom and holding weekly resident feedback meetings to ensure that each resident’s views, preferences and individual needs shape the care we provide.

Outstanding care every day in a beautiful setting
High Broom is a beautiful building with 29 rooms of various sizes – everyone can find a little slice of home here. Set in picturesque grounds with wheelchair friendly accessible paths and places to sit and enjoy the view, hear the birds and even spot the occasional deer.
High Broom is also home to three much-loved rescue cats — Lola, Oscar and Bob — who are often found joining in with activities or enjoying a cuddle with residents.
Along with the 29 rooms in the main house, our care home also offers 6 comfortable assisted living apartments for residential or respite care set a short walk away in the grounds. Both the main house and the assisted living apartments are staffed 24/7 by experienced carers.
We have recently refurbished our dining room, which is now a beautiful communal space in which to enjoy leisurely meals.

Our secret ingredient to good care is good food. We’re passionate about fresh, seasonal ingredients and meals that are both delicious and nourishing. Our kitchen team takes real pride in what they prepare, offering residents a wide variety of choices at every meal.
From delicious afternoon teas to comforting family favourites, food is an important part of daily life at High Broom. We regularly ask for feedback and encourage residents to share their preferences and make suggestions, ensuring mealtimes remain something to look forward to.

Using technology for the safest care
We use the most innovative technology to help us provide the safest care; this includes smart fall monitoring technology. These technologies help us to respond more quickly to any falls or emergencies as well as helping us to prevent future incidents.
Most recently we’ve been trialling Kami cameras which use AI to help prevent falls. The devices are typically mounted to give full view of the room and the on-device AI analyzes movement patterns to detect a fall and an alert is provided in real time to our care team. Our care team can also review any incident footage to understand the cause of the fall and where possible take steps to prevent future incidents.
